To change the header in a CSV File
The following article explains how to change the header of a CSV file in CSV Editor Rons Data Edit. If you would like to follow these steps in Rons Data Edit you can download the free version here: Download.
Your CSV file can be opened using the 'Open Document' File menu, or 'Open Document' link on the Start Page of the application.
1. Make a Row into the File Header
To change the header of the CSV File, look for the 'Rows' tab in the ribbon bar at the top of the window and click on it.
On the right side of the ribbon, two row changes options are displayed: “Make Row Header” and “Make Header Row”.
If you would like to make a row into the header:
- Select the row or any cell on it.
- Click on 'Make Row Header' in the menu. or - Right click on the row header with the mouse.
- Select 'Make Row Header' from the pop-up menu.
2. Make the Header into a Row
To change the header of the CSV File, look for the 'Rows' tab in the ribbon bar at the top of the window and click on it.
On the right side of the ribbon two row changes options are displayed: “Make Row Header” and “Make Header Row”.
If you would like to make the header into a row and turn the header into the first row:

Click Make Header Row.
or - Right-click on the column header and select Make Header Row from the menu.
3. Update the Header information
If the header information needs to be changed, click on the Column section on the top ribbon menu. Columns can be renamed one by one, by selecting one desired column at a time and then clicking on Rename Column. This action will open the header cell of the column and allow to edit it.
Another way to update the header information is to open the Edit Schema window that can also be found under the Column section. In the Edit Document Schema window, you can select each column listed on the left side and update their respective title in the Edit Data Column area on the right side. The column type (Text, Time, date, etc.) can also be defined there.
When satisfied with the changes, save and close the Edit Document Schema window to make sure the changes are applied to the document.
